Abstract

In this article many factors are discussed, like the Taipas’ change from village to industrial pole, the central triangle’s core, law schools implementation in the village, railway access, the establishment of hydroelectric power production and public transportation. Besides that, data such as these are pointed out in the article: the European immigration, the prosperity of the coffee making possible the opening of the Parque do Anhagabaú and of the first Viaduto do Chá to the Cidade Nova, the Real Estate occupation of the Southwest Quadrant of the city, the industrial development, the avenue plan establishment and the construction of the second Viaduto do Chá. Still, other topics discussed in the article are the rural population immigration, the technocratic period of zoning consolidation, the Integrated Master Plan Development – known in Portuguese as PDDI – with land segregation, the flexibility in the soil use and occupation. Lastly, there are discussions on the Master Plan of 1986 implementing the Urban Operations, the statute of the city, the Strategic Master Plan of 2002, the Strategic Plan for the Sub-municipalities in 2004, the onerous granting and the extra taxation.
