Abstract

In this article, it is discussed the implementation of new productive configurations based on partnerships and innovation as a strategy of local development articulated with instruments of the urban planning. The distinctions and approaches between the innovation of habitats and the local productive clusters are argued, both configurations coming from these new initiatives. The role of the urban planning is considered essential, especially when it contributes to the implementation of urban and economic development programs that have the partnership, the innovation and the technological diffusion as an important element for sustainable strategies. Finally, it is concluded that, the success of these initiatives faces challenges of many dimensions, mainly due to complexity of this thematic that involves economic, social and urban aspects that must be managed in a shared way between the companies, the public power and the society.
