Author Guidelines

Submission Policy

The Editorial Board bases its decisions and actions on ethical principles supporting scientific journals and strives to stay updated on editorial practices across the Ibero-American academic community. Submissions are evaluated through the Open Journal System (OJS), following a Double Blind Peer Review process, assessing the manuscript's scientific merit, compliance with APA formatting, and other editorial standards.

  • Submissions are accepted only via the journal’s website.
  • Articles are primarily evaluated based on their scientific merit.

Podium adheres strictly to publication ethics and follows the COPE Code of Conduct. The journal has observed these guidelines since 2012 and has been a full COPE member since 2020.

To assist with the submission process, we have provided a 4-step Submission Guide

Author Guidelines

Initial Evaluation – Desk Review - This step checks compliance with submission requirements, author guidelines, and the journal’s Academic Integrity Policy.

  • It verifies metadata, formatting, and potential duplicate authorship. Non-compliant manuscripts are archived and authors notified.

Manuscripts approved at this stage are forwarded to the appropriate editors for Double Blind Peer Review.

Based on reviewers' assessments, the Editorial Board may choose to accept, reject, or request revisions to align the article with journal standards.

The journal’s editorial bodies, educational institutions, research organizations, or individuals involved in the journal’s management do not take responsibility for the content of published articles. All responsibility lies with the authors.

Authors are expected to submit manuscripts that have already undergone grammar, spelling, and formatting review. If performed during this stage, a signed Declaration Form must be submitted and noted in the “Comments to the Editor” field

General Guidelines

  1. A maximum of 4 authors is allowed per article.
  2. The article title should be short, clear, and concise.
  3. Manuscripts must be original and unpublished in Brazil or abroad. Including preliminary versions in conference proceedings is not considered a violation of originality— inform this in the “Comments to the Editor” field.
  4. Manuscripts cannot be under simultaneous review in another journal.
  5. The Editor may accept or reject submissions according to editorial policy.
  6. The Editor may accept or reject an article even after peer review through the Double Blind Review process.
  7. The Editor may suggest revisions regarding content and formatting in line with APA guidelines.
  8. Articles must be grammatically correct—reviewers are not responsible for editing.
  9. Approved articles will proceed to the Editing Stage.
  10. The OJS system tracks and records all evaluation steps, and authors can monitor their article’s status online.

General Formatting Guidelines

  1. Articles must comply with APA formatting.
  2. Use Times New Roman, size 12, single spacing.
  3. Page layout: Letter size (21.59 x 27.94 cm) with 2.54 cm margins on all sides.
  4. Use single spacing, italics instead of underlining, and embed figures/tables in the text, not as appendices.
  5. Length: 15–25 pages, including all sections: title, abstract, keywords, introduction, figures/tables, theoretical framework, methodology, analysis, discussion, conclusions, and references.
  6. Figures, tables, graphs, and illustrations must be in the correct order within the main document, font size 10, and include captions.
  7. Include DOIs for electronic references using the format: https://doi.org/

Definition of Each Processing Type

Collect: Upon registration, the author provides data that is collected, archived, and stored in the journal's database. Sensitive data is not collected. Registration is voluntary, and the password is personal and non-transferable.

Use: Some collected data is used to insert into formatted articles for publication, including: full name, institution, email (if authorized by authors), and academic title. These data are evaluation criteria for the journal by CAPES/Qualis and indexers. Current indexers can be consulted here.

Email Use: Emails are sent regarding the editorial process, review statements, published issues and articles, special calls, guideline changes, and editors. The use of email in the published article is done with the author's authorization.

Access: Data is accessed during the editing/updating of metadata before publication to avoid conflicts with DOI deposit, Orcid iD, and Currículo Lattes.

Transmit: To ensure digital preservation, the journal automatically transmits published issues to the LOCKSS System and the Cariniana Network. It is also transmitted for indexing in repositories via the Open Archives Initiative – OAI.

Anonymize: To ensure blind peer review, all articles sent for evaluation are checked for personal names in properties. If names are found, the Word tool is used to inspect the document and remove properties. The same procedure is followed when reviewers make annotations in the article that need to be sent to authors.

Process: Submission data is processed into XML files or sent via the system to Crossref to generate the DOI number, providing the article with a persistent link and individual identification.

Archive: Registration and submission data, both published and rejected and archived, remain in the journal's database. Published data are transmitted to LOCKSS and the Cariniana Network as part of the Preservation Policy.

Store: Registration and submission data, both published and rejected and archived, and registrations that requested deletion, are stored in the journal's database.

Delete: Registration data is not permanently deleted but may be rendered inactive or access blocked in cases of plagiarism and/or self-plagiarism, as defined in the Plagiarism Policy. Submission data is not deleted to maintain the article's history and to issue statements by authors and reviewers, in accordance with Article 16 of Law No. 13.709/18. Document properties data is deleted to maintain the integrity of blind peer review. At any time, the user is free to request deletion from the journal's database and thus cease receiving communications from it.

Evaluate: Submission data is evaluated for correct completion to avoid conflicts with DOI, Orcid iD, and Currículo Lattes. Any user can request information updates and make them in the profile editor.

All data subject requests can be made via email: podium@uninove.br

- Some requests that may occur: email change, correction of misspelled name, academic title, institution, city, country, among others.

Registration in the Journal

Registration in the journal is free, personal, and non-transferable. The Editorial Team is not authorized to register users, except for Reviewers after accepting the invitation sent. In both cases, passwords are personal.

Sensitive Data and Data Collection

We affirm that data collection is based on good practices and good faith, adhering to the principles of the LGPD, and we do not collect sensitive data.

Use of Images in Articles

To ensure copyright compliance for images featuring individuals, photographs, tables, and figures, the journal evaluates all images and sources provided by authors. In the absence of proper authorization, the image will not be published in the article.

User Consent – Readers, Authors, Reviewers

In light of the above and being aware of the stages and consequences of personal data processing, authors agree to the use of their personal data for the explicit purposes outlined in this PRIVACY POLICY AND INFORMED CONSENT FORM, freely, informed, and transparently.

It is important to note that this TERMS may undergo changes in accordance with amendments to the LGPD or changes in the data processing practices of the journal controller. Any such changes will be widely disclosed.
