Abstract

Introduction: the practice of physical activity is considered an important factor for the prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic diseases. Objective: to carry out a systematic review about the effects of physical activity on cardiometabolic parameters of police officers. Methods: the systematic search of this study was conducted through the LILACS, PubMed, MEDLINE and SciELO databases. Results: thirty-five studies that showed the relationship between physical activity and unfavorable cardiometabolic parameters in police officers were included in the review, indicating that occupational activity exposes health due to working conditions and lifestyle. Conclusion: the results of the studies indicate that police have sedentary behaviors, presence of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risks that contribute to the development of cardiometabolic diseases by multiple factors.
