Abstract

In this research, it was evaluated the awareness of pregnant women when it comes to their dental heath, by identifying social representations that provide their dental care. Data were collected from 43 pregnant, in an age group from 15 to 40 year old, in the eastern zone of Manaus. Data were obtained through a questionnaire responded while they were waiting to be attended during their prenatal examination. Results show a significant percentage of below twentyyear old pregnant women (30,23%), most of them in the third trimester pregnancy (55,81%), low-level of schooling (55,81%) with the family low-income representing the minimum monthly wage in the country (60,47%). In Amazon, the perception of the buccal health for the pregnant was considered low. The analyzed data confirm the need of buccal health programs addressed for pregnant women, standing out the understanding and orientation so that they can care for the family buccal health.
