Abstract

The aim of post-operatory rehabilitation after ACL reconstruction surgery is to recover the mobility of knee joint, reduce pain and swelling and also reestablish the function of the patient. However, it might be used different ways of treatment to this proposal. Therefore, the objective of this study was to compare kinesiotherapy with hydrokinesiotherapy treatment related to improvement of range of motion, reduction of swelling and pain beyond functional improvement of these patients. It was achieve the following measurements: goniometry and perimetry, application of visual analog scale of pain and Lysholm questionnaire. For the study, 12 patients were divided in two groups according to the protocol of treatment, all of them were approximately in the 15th post-operatory day. Data were statistically analyzed using the nonparametric Wilcoxon´s test in the comparative analysis of the values in each group, and t Student parametric test was used for the comparison of the values between the different groups of treatment, both with level of significance of p < 0,05. In comparison between kinesiotherapy and hydrokinesiotherapy treatment, it was possible to verify that both had produced benefits in the reduction of swelling, improvement of range of movement, reduction of pain and functional improvement (p<0,05), and it have been observed significantly statistical differences between the groups, only related to gain of knee flexion in the kinesiotherapy group of treatment (p>0,05). Therefore, we conclude that both treatments brought benefits in the evaluated criteria.
