Abstract

Depression is a known phenomenon in HIV positive patients and may interfere in adherence to antiretroviral treatment such as the psychosis due to this condition. Once identified the problem, a new concern about the administration of a new drug to the therapeutic plan from these patients appears, being an antidepressant or an antipsychotic. Recent researches denote that some antiretrovirals, specially the most recently developed, have their metabolism by the same enzymatic groups, which are present in hydroxylation, demethylation or glucuronidation reactions of antidepressants and or antipsychotics drugs, and that may result in drug interaction. In this work, founded on the recent literature, all the antidepressants and antipsychotics drugs dispensed to these patients will be approached, qualifying which one has the smallest drug interactions profile.
