Relation between low-back pain and overweight in practitioner of physical activity

Abstract

The objective of this study was to relate the cases of low-back pain and overweight, observing the following characteristics:IMC, the abdominal skinfold, complaint of lumbar pain. It was made an statistical analysis by means of data base of the software BodyMove. With a sample of 134 questionnaires of evaluation, having as a criterion an inclusion of register of students with low-back pain or overweight, and as exclusion character questionnaires of students without pain. After the survey, data were registered and grouped for development of the statistical analysis. In the results, it was observed 53% of low-back pain cases in individuals with overweight, and 47%, in cases of normal weight, a bigger incidence were observed in individuals with abdominal skinfold greater than 20,90mm(70%). Taking into account the results, it was concluded that there are indications of a relation between abdominal skinfold and low-back pain, which is important to be analyzed with the overweight.
