Introduction: An extended immobile period in bed occasionally leads to the immobilization syndrome, common in Intensive Care Units. In contrast to the complications, early mobilization provides ventilation, circulatory and metabolic improvement.
Objective: To build an instrument (checklist) that points out the main clinical findings to guide physiotherapeutic activities in the fight against prolonged immobilization.
Methods: Develop Checklist with particular findings and in the literature, improving choices in the kinesiotherapy protocol in critical patients admitted to Mario Palmério Hospital Universitário, in Uberaba-MG. Through an Integrative Review to support the Checklist for Early Mobilization, in addition to the Experimental Research to adapt the hospital service. Results: 24 patients, bedside collection and electronic medical records, mean age 66 years (± 25) distributed equally in both genders.
Discussion: The tool provided support in the performance of the physiotherapy team, with no divergence in cardiorespiratory parameters between bedside and electronic medical record.
Conclusion: The use of an evaluation tool is fundamental to the treatment, favoring the individualized approach to the critical patient.
