Abstract

The Progressive Resistance Exercises (PRE) represents a training system whose main purpose is to improve the components of general physical fitness. It is a sophisticated practice that comprises the individual’s natural heterogeneity and has aroused our interest to identify which system is more prescribed by experts, teachers, and trainees in physical education: the single set (1 set), or multiple sets (2, 3, or 4 sets). The research was composed by 19 questionnaires, which were distributed among the biggest gyms in São Paulo city, and then they were reviewed and assessed qualitatively. Differently from original sources that guide the PRE prescription, the results are a traditional, homogeneous, and extremely questionable practice.
