Introduction: The dental impaction is a condition where the complete eruption is interrupted to its contact with another tooth. The lack of available space in the buccal region occurs due to lower bones growth of the cranial box in detriment of maxillaries, presenting in 33% of the cases the third molars impacted. The precocious painful symptoms and general signals such as fever, anorexia, trismus and chewing difficult may characterize the presence of a pericoronitis local, being the surgical removal of third molar indicated. The post-operative complications may also occur and limit the clinical prognosis of this procedure. Objective/Method: In this retrospective study, it was analyzed the incidence of intercurrences reported in medical records of patients of the Clinic of Dental School, of Unicastelo, in 2008. Results: The descriptive analysis of the data disclosed these complications in 75% of the individuals, with predominance of post-operative pain in 77.2% (n=24). Conclusion: These results show the importance to analyze post-exodontic pain, considering the therapeutic interventions adopted.Downloads
