Abstract

Introduction: Futsal is characterized by realization of intense efforts. The sport, for its own characteristic of constant physical contact, has a high injury risk. Objective: To characterize the injury types of female futsal athletes. Methods: The Reported Morbidity Survey, adapted to the futsal, was used for data collection, applied as a structured survey referring to the last year period. Results: Seventeen athletes were interviewed. It was verified that the anatomical structure most injured was the ankle (60%), that the more common type of injury was the tendinitis (50%), that the ball stroke was considered the most frequent mechanism of injury (40%), and that there was prevalence of symptomatic return to sporting activities (70%) i.e., the female athletes returned to sport with symptoms of injury. Conclusion: It was concluded that the greatest part of injuries occurs in the lower limbs, with high incidence in the ankle.
