Introduction: The colostrum milk is produced after birth and is used in folk medicine in inflammation and tissue healing. Objective: To analyze the healing of skin wounds treated with colostrum milk. Methods: We used 45 Wistar rats. It was made a wound, 2 cm in diameter, on the backs of animals and then they were divided into two groups: the wounds of group I were treated with saline 0.9%, and the wounds of group II were treated with colostrum milk. After euthanasia at four, seven and fourteen days post-surgery, the skin samples were subjected to histological analysis. Results: The group treated with colostrum milk presented formation of more mature granulation tissue with increased collagen deposition, partial reepithelialization of the wound area and speeding up the inflammatory process compared to the group treated with saline. Conclusion: The colostrum milk optimized the process of repair of experimental skin wounds.Downloads
