Abstract

The aim of this article was to characterize the profile of na 8th semester group of undergraduate Nursing students and identify the factors that make the learning easy or difficult at the moment of elaborating their Undergraduate Final Year Project (UFYP) or monograph. It was an exploratory research developed in a private education institution in the city of São Paulo. The sample was constituted by 76 students – 83% of female, 52,6% of single persons and 63,1% of nursing auxiliaries. The interviewed ones described time, costs, the search for a mentor and the requirement of carrying through the UFYP for being approved in the course as their major difficulties; the most facilitating factors were the opportunity of learning how to develop a research, to be accompanied by a mentor and the power of choice on the subject.
