Abstract

An individual can change his position in space and apply mechanical strength to the environment because there is muscular movement (muscular contraction) and power generation. The muscular fibers contract due to electrical phenomena, the action potential. The knowledge of physiological processes that involve the motor unit is the fundamental point for the electromyographic studies. Through electromyographic, physiotherapists can evaluate the neuromuscular integrity of their patient and thus establish a correspondent treatment. The aim of this work was to observe the neuromuscular interactions using the healthy rectus femoris muscle electromyografy in order to propose an experimental protocol that demonstrate, in practice, the whole neuromuscular interaction. These procedures help the physiotherapy students to understand the physiology theory of motor control.
