Introduction: Little is known about the acute effects of static stretching on muscle power in athletes. Objective: To analyze the acute effect of static stretching on the muscle power production in female under-17 soccer athletes. Methods: Eleven female athletes were divided into two groups. In the S0 group, the players performed a jump for measuring the muscle power after stretching. So in the S10 group, they jumped ten minutes after stretching. For power measurement a platform jumping was used. Results: The stretching might influence in acute effect on muscle power when performed immediately after static stretching (P < 0.05). In the group that performed the jump ten minutes after a stretching, no deleterious effect was observed on muscle power (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The static stretching might be decreases in a performance of muscle power immediately after the stretching exercise; however, after ten minutes no differences were observed in muscle power.Downloads
