Table tennis players detraining in teens

Objective: To evaluate the reduction of physical performance in table tennis players adolescents. Methods: The sample consisted of 14 table tennis players aged 14.3±2.8 years. Body mass was collected and stature to calculate BMI. In obtaining motor/physical abilities standardized instruments for PROESP BRAZIL were used. The tests were performed in the competitive period and a new test battery was applied when the players returned from their recess training. In the analysis of the data was used descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation and percentage), Student's t test was used for comparison between periods. It was by adopting a significance level of p<0.05. Results: There were no significant differences in anthropometric and strength variables, but losses were found in significant physical capabilities of agility, horizontal jump, abdominal strength, flexibility and endurance. Conclusion: There is loss of physical abilities with the exception of force after a period of 8 weeks of detraining.Downloads
