Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the most frequent nursing diagnoses of five pediatric patients with epilepsy, which are under treatment in a philanthropical hospital in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It was a descriptive research. The parents of five children with the age between 0 to 11 years (4, 35 average) were interviewed. The nursing problems obtained were useful for the construction of the nursing diagnoses. The nursing diagnoses were based on the II Taxonomy of NANDA 2003-2004. The most frequent real diagnoses were Impaired Physical Mobility 5(19%), Ineffective Protection 5(19%), Constipation 4(16%), Disturbed Sleep Pattern 3(12%). The most frequent risk diagnoses were: for injury 5(18%), for aspiration 3(12%) and for sudden infant death syndrome 3(12%). The nursing diagnoses help organize the structure of the nursing actions in epileptology and public health care.
