Abstract

The history of infectious diseases in Brazil, as well in the world, shows the need of improvement in monitoring methods for its efficient control. One of the main items in the Brazilian Health Department’s strategy to fight this kind of disease, is to establish a fast and efficient channel between the suspicious event and the people responsible for the disease control. Building a system that implements this channel, seems to be relevant and highly justifiable. This essay proposes the creation of an alert system for epidemics, based on real-time electronic notification of contagious infectious diseases.
