Abstract

The present work broaches one of most frequents alimentary disorder nowadays, the anorexia. This study starts with the historic comprehension of the actual moment and the psycho-analysis path, to understand the anorexia. It begins with Jean-Marie Charcot’s hysterias studies, goes through Sigmund Freud’s studies about the live and death instincts and arrives at Donald Woods Winnicott’s emotional development theory about the relationship between the baby and his mother, focusing in some situations that can occur in the process that go from absolute dependence to the maternal care independence. This work aims to discuss this subject, without reaching a definitive conclusion.
