Abstract

Objectives: Present the sociodemographic profile of athletes covered by the Athletes Grant Program from 2013 to 2021 and identify differences in these characteristics based on the funding supported by the program.
Methodology/Approach: Statistical techniques were used to measure central tendency and dispersion; analysis of variance for comparison between categories and dependent variables; T-student test for independent samples to compare gender and sport (Olympic and Paralympic); and one-way ANOVA with Tukey HSD post-hoc to compare age categories and values classified by scholarship type.
Originality/Relevance: The aim is to demonstrate data from the Bolsa Atleta program in a macro way, different from that found in the literature, to serve as a reference for other studies in the area.
Main results: It was found that there are significant differences between the six categories of the program between the type of modality and the age groups of the beneficiaries and it was pointed out that there is no significant difference between the sex of the athletes benefited between the categories.
Theoretical and methodological contributions: It is understood that the normative characteristic of the Bolsa Atleta, despite not having a legal provision that requires balance between the sexes, means that there is no significant difference between male and female athletes in their categories. As for the type of sport, Bolsa Atleta benefits according to the characteristics of the population, with a predominance of Olympic athletes. Among the age groups, it is pointed out that there is a predominance of younger athletes in lower categories of the program, while athletes close to the sporting peak are in the highest categories.
