Abstract

In this article, we investigated the process of organizational change in two soccer clubs from the city of Pelotas: Grêmio Esportivo Brasil and Esporte Clube Pelotas. The growing professionalization of soccer around the globe, pulled by laws and stakeholders, reshaped the face of sports from a leisure activity to a professional business. The sports associations adopted business management techniques according to the demand. In view of the transformation of the sports field and the consolidation of the sports management as a knowledge area, we sought to investigate and compare how clubs adhered to changes, the championships performance by those teams and the factors that made difference in the performance of Brasil and Pelotas.
