Efficient management is important in organizations in any sector, including public health. In this sense, hospital pharmaceutical care constitutes a complex and relevant system, responsible for contemplating, in addition to patient care, the high costs involved with medicines, for example. The objective of this study was to evaluate the drug storage service in pharmacies of state hospitals in Florianópolis, using efficacy as a criterion. For their achievement it developed a form and a direct observation script (check-list), beyond the evaluative matrix. We conducted a pilot study previously to analyze the instruments used in the research. The data collection was carried out in four state hospitals of Florianópolis. As a result it was noted that the dimension "Receiving" presented 50% of the performance as "good" and 50% as "regular"; the dimension "Storage" showed 25% as "bad" performance and 75% "regular"; the dimension "Conservation" had 100% performance as "good"; and the dimension "Inventory Control" showed 50% as "good", 25% as "regular" and 25% as "bad". In general the efficacy of storage in the evaluated hospitals was regular, being the weakest dimension "Storage". The critical node of this service is related to employees training. However, it must be focused special attention to the preparation of staff for the service to be performed adequately in pharmacies of hospitals analyzed.Downloads
