Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the characteristics of students that had been participated of Shelter Project in the AIS (Ambulatório Integrado de Saúde – Health Integrated Clinic) as well to describe their perceptions about the development of their activities. It is a descriptive, exploratory research. To trace the profile of the students, it was analysed their election forms, and to establish their performances, interviews had been carried through. The collection of data had beginning after approval of the ethics committee and after the interviewed ones had signed the TCLE (Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido – Cleared and Free Consent Term). Thirteen students had been selected. Of this universe, the women were majority (69%), followed of the young of 18 to 20 years, attending a course from 1º to 4º semester (54%). Acquiring knowledge was the main reason that leads people to take part of this project. By means of the analysis of thematic content of the interviews made with five students, it was identified four categories: holistic and humanistic relationship; patient’s necessities resolution; administrative activities performance and interpersonal interaction. It was concluded that this project allowed the students knew the humanistic assistance and shelter, both praised in order to improve the quality of the assistance.
