Operational analysis of the attraction cots of the port of São Francisco do Sul/SC

Abstract

Ports have a fundamental role in building the economy of a contry, because through them is draned the most part of nation’s production. Moreover, it is essential that this sector is operating efficiently. In this context, this report aims to analyze the operation of the berths of the port of São Francisco do Sul/SC. Thus, the port operation was modeled on Arena software, from the arrival of ships as well as their loading and unloading. Furthermore, based on the growth rate of the port, three scenarios for the year 2030 were created: (i) unimproved, (ii) with selected improvements and (iii) with the installation of port cranes needed to reach the service level recommended by international standards port operatiom. With this work, it is concluded that to achieve the international standards greater investiments will be required than currently under consideration.
