Abstract

The advancement of technologies enables new possibilities of business models, generating impact also in the educational context. Through a descriptive and qualitative approach, this study brings a content analysis of the existing literature on Educational Business Models, with the objective of presenting a systematic review of literature on Educational Business Models. The results pointed to the year of 2004 as the beginning of the academic discussion on the subject. In addition, we found 16 concepts of educational business models present in the literature and two structures with generic elements applicable to education - one for future universities and another for e-Education. Institutions of higher education have proved to be the main targets related to the subject. The delimitations of the research were the results found in the databases through the search terms and the fact of the use of only articles of periodicals for further analysis and, therefore, it is necessary to study and deepen other terms considered in this research, as well as the discussion of the proposed debate agenda.
