Abstract

The term cocoon has derived from formal definition of the biological activity of shelter that involves an animal or a group of animals during a cycle or life period, possessing efficiently for this inactive phase or reproductive cycle a skin characteristic expresses or like a flexible involucre. The important characteristics of cocoon, isolation of activities, restrict space to development a certain action, lightness, flexibility and the own natural condition, represent metaphorical goals in projects of small homes and the transposition for the conventional constructions as formal component that it allow. As constructive goals, the searches in the natural ways of the cocoons can be translated in results and combinations in geometric ways modulate or even bubbles and capsules of historical architectural projects to the most recent. Now and in face to the services of energy reduction and technologies that are maintainable, the term cocoon propitiates the metaphors as a production the micro-clime, flexibility and constructive lightness.
