Abstract

The problem that arises in this study is the conflicts and power relations established in the hospital environment, where the relations of domination are manifested in the process of managing the interests of the agents, bringing consequences for all involved. The objective is to analyze the conflicts and power relations between employees of different categories of a philanthropic hospital. We sought to contemplate categories of analysis directly related to the hospital environment, such as: Organization Chart, Participation, Leadership and Conflicts. The discussion of the findings of the research is supported by the concepts of Field, Symbolic Capital and Habitus of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. The contributions of the study are evidenced in the interdisciplinary approach of the problem from the contributions of Sociology, Administration and Public Health, thus broadening the horizons of understanding the problem. The use of Bourdieu's theoretical lenses proved to be important insofar as there is a lack of studies on hospital management using sociological concepts, especially from Bourdeiu. The study allowed the hospital managers, under analysis, a broad feedback to understand and improve their management.
