Peer Review Process
The evaluation process of papers submitted to the Iberoamerican Journal of Strategic Management is characterized by a dual rating system and involves two sequential steps: the desk review and the assessment by reviewers.
In the desk review, the editors gather and analyze, without author identification, submitted articles to assess their relevance to the journal's scope and their potential to make a significant contribution to the construction of knowledge in the field of study of strategy. When necessary, the editors involve members of the scientific committee in the process.
This evaluation occurs monthly. When an article does not comply with the policy of the journal, the authors are notified of this decision within sixty days of the date of submission. Articles approved in the desk review stage are forwarded to two of the journal’s expert reviewers for evaluation in a Double Blind Review system or to external researchers selected for their knowledge of the field of study of the article. The reviewers are professors and researchers associated to stricto sensu graduate programs of domestic or foreign educational institutions.
Articles are evaluated in a previously defined form, considering the relevance of the theme in question to strategy, the quality of the writing, the logical thread of the theoretical review, the use of appropriate bibliographical references, the suitability of the methodological procedures, the depth and consistency of the analysis, the outline of the conclusions and the relevance of the contributions. This stage of the evaluation process can last up to three months. When it is completed, the authors are notified of the editorial decision. When reviewers request adjustments to the article, the authors, at the discretion of the editors, may be allowed a period of thirty to sixty days for the incorporation of the suggested changes.
After the completion of the requested adjustments, articles are submitted to a spelling check, grammar review, reassessment of their compliance with the norms of the journal and final editing.
The conclusion of this process does not imply the immediate publication of the article. This decision is made by the editors, who determine the editorial policies, guidelines and the appropriate time for publication.

Boards and Committees
About the Editorial Board
The Editorial Board is made up of academic representatives from different teaching and research institutions. Its members work preferentially, but not exclusively, in the area of strategy research. The Editorial Board does not act mostly collectivelly. There is no provision for regular meetings to address the issues. There is no formal involvement of the members of the Editorial Board with an entity legally responsible for the publication of the magazine. Each member participates in the work of the journal in a more individual way, through an interaction of the Scientific Committee or the Editors. In fact, each member acts as a consultant to the Scientific Committee and the Editors interpreting and suggesting improvements in the Editorial Policy, promoting a magazine, positioning itself as an arbiter on strategic issues of IJSM participation in the academic and professional environment. The Editorial Board does not supervise or interfere in the editorial process, preventing the process of arbitrating articles. The Editorial Board decides in relevant subjects such as the consistency of editorial policy and publications, their quality and also on ethical issues relevant to editorial management. Each member also assumes the role of “ombudsman” of the scientific community active in the area, ensuring academic credibility and the attitude that a scientific journal expects.
Scientific Committee
The Scientific Comitee is an interinstitutional collegiate, composed of representatives of the research groups that most directly support the journal's development. Its performance is done in a collegial way, with collective and democratic decisions. The group's main mission is to ensure the credibility of the editorial procedures adopted and assume the scientific responsibility of the journal. The Scientific Committee appoints the Scientific Editors who becomes its natural members. In addition, its duties are of a scientific nature in order to ensure that the Journal's mission is fulfilled. This committee must be permanently active in complying with the general definitions of the journal's editorial policy and also with the expected editorial procedures, particularly with regard to ensuring the consistency and quality of publications. Special editions and other scientific contributions should be discussed and defined by this body. The Scientific Comitee job is to discuss and develop specific regulations for various subjects such as: rules and formatting of articles; criteria for evaluation and acceptance of texts for publication; acceptance of new research groups to participate in the committee; budget approval; accreditation of reviewers and reviewers; definition of circulation policy and subscriptions, among other matters. The Scientific Committee does not interfere in the editorial operation of IJSM, which is the responsibility of the Editors and his operational team.
Scientific Editors
The Scientific Editors are responsible for establishing the Editorial Policy, for the editorial management and for the supervision of the Editorial Team, which operates the entire workflow, with the help of the Open Journal System - OJS systems. The Editors have a specific role in the previous selection of articles sent to the magazine, in the distribution of articles among reviewers, who will evaluate them. If the articles are of the expected quality they will be published. In addition, the Editors must have an active stance in the work of the Scientific Committee and in the articulation of actions of the Editorial Board. A flow chart of the activities of the scientific publishing process is explained on the OJS platform, in the menu item “About / About the Electronic Journal Publishing System”.
