This article aims to analyze Daniel Elazar 's theory about the structuring of the federal state as a matrix model of political organization. A semantic analysis of the term "federal" will be carried out initially, essential for the understanding of the valuing essence that underlies this form of State. Then, we study the categories proposed by Elazar, especially the matrix model that is structured by cells in the same frame, as a mathematical matrix in which the various power cores communicate. Finally, the federal state will be verified in the contemporary world and how the theory of Elazar can serve as parameter for the analysis of this form of State.
