Abstract

The most part of Brazilian cities disposes its solid waste without any adequate procedure, a custom that can cause environmental damages such as air, soil, superficial and underground water contamination, developing focus of diseases with the spread of pathogenic vectors and its consequent impacts on public health. This work tries to investigate and evaluate the significant aspects of urban solid waste management, focused on sustainable development, in order to assure the continue development of welfare, promote recommended procedures on public health and protect the environment from pollution.
