The digital transformation, driven by Industry 4.0, promotes increased competitiveness, but also new possibilities for conceiving value. To innovate, cultural changes are necessary, involving studies on knowledge management and sharing. This work investigates the consolidation of research networks on the topic, considering challenges imposed and reach between different countries. The methodology, based on bibliometrics, involved categorization and statistical analyses of papers and creation of a word cloud. The results show that dedicated research networks are probably not consolidated and that most articles come from countries with more developed economies, where practical studies predominate. Collaboration between authors from different countries proved to be small. The formation of research networks depends on the joint work of academia, organizations and the government, especially in the case of developing countries. The methodology may be applied again, in the future, to reassess the consolidation of networks.
