The objective of this study was to present the current scenario of the level of maturity of companies in Architecture, Engineering and Construction in the state of Minas Gerais in relation to the Building Information Modeling tool. Therefore, technological capacities, processes and policies were assessed from five predefined levels of maturity. From this exploratory research, implementations for the evolution of the maturity level were suggested. It was possible to verify that the Brazilian scenario for the implementation of the tool is very promising, but the need to create performance evaluation models is evident. In addition, there is a heterogeneity in the levels of maturity in the Brazilian industries of Architecture, Engineering and Construction, thus allowing this study to point out good practices that are feasible at all levels of maturity.
