Abstract

Project management is a complex topic that has been studied for several decades. With the constant change in the business and technological environment, it is important to know future trends to support the development of organizations and promote success in their projects, in addition to preparing professionals for future demands. Therefore, this article seeks to identify trends and opportunities for future practices in project management for the coming years in the perception of experts in Brazil. In this way, the study contributes to having an integrated view of project management research in terms of its evolution and thematic trends for an understanding of future directions. In this sense, the evidence indicated that there is a strong concern for people in the business environment due to the influence of technology, which creates a challenging and connected environment. Migration to agile and hybrid methodologies is a strong trend in Brazil. In addition, professionals need to seek constant updating and development to meet current demands, as management practices are spreading to all areas of society, creating new job opportunities for trained professionals. Skills required include people management, leadership, behavioral skills, technology, business acumen and change management. This study can serve as a source of insight into trends and challenges in the field of project management, offering guidance for professionals to prepare to lead change and promote success in their organizations and projects.
