Abstract

This paper aimed to verify the importance and impact of risk management in projects in introducing new technology in oil industry exploration and production (E&P). The study covered the stages of risk management in projects and their tools. The methodology was a case study, applied to a large oil company with international operations that has distinct expertise in the development of offshore fields. We performed a comparative analysis of the actions taken by the organization and discussed the steps listed in the PMBOK for an effective risk management.
