Reverse logistics and logistics service providers: analysis and contextualization through network mapping

Abstract

The perception of the importance of Logistics Service Providers (LSP) in the Reverse Logistics (RL) operation has increased due to the increase in the flow of products returned to the industries, mainly from sales arising from e-commerce. Thus, it is the intention of this study to present and analyze the LSP network that works with RL in Brazil. Through exploratory and descriptive research combined with the network analysis methodology, the study analyzes how the network of logistics service providers (LSP) working with LR in Brazil is constituted. The vision established by the analysis provides company managers with the existing relationship between the PSL and the business segments that operate with reverse processes. This allows us to understand how to articulate operations optimizing the business network in this area. This study is one of the first in Brazil to carry out this mapping, providing academia and companies with knowledge about the RL network.
