Abstract

This article presents an overview of Health Economics in Brazil with the description of the beginning of its history and the interference of the international economic studies on health services. International organizations exert influence on the way and proposals of economic analysis in Brazil with publications that guide methodologies, besides the development banks that integrate the network in this area with concern not only about financing but also the allocation of resources and evaluation of health programmes. The theme arouses interest of the academic community and in this context the courses along with a reflection on the scientific production on health economics and the consideration of this information in the proposal of a research agenda on the subject.
