Abstract

The fashion market requires constant innovation and variety of products, which must meet the various seasons and trends. For industrial manufacturing, such a variety becomes more challenging when added factors such as different numbers and colors. Each factor tends to reduce the size of production orders, resulting in increased setups in various production processes. In this context, this article aims to evaluate the impact of size of production batches on the productive capacity of a critical resource of a footwear company and to suggest changes in the process to increase the productivity of the equipment. The methodological approach used in this work was the case study. The results showed that, through the study, it was possible to increase the efficiency of the analyzed equipment by 60%, changing the load sequencing to the production of the same model by grouping all orders of production into raw materials that did not vary in color.
