Third sector as a social actor: a possibility on social gerontology field

This article searches to enlarge the knowledge about the third sector, in a constantly changing world. In this analysis there is another factor to be considered: the aging process in a society that, resulting from factors as the better economic conditions, the increase of the medicaments efficiency, among others, result in an increase of the life expectation. Within this perspective, the third sector may perform in the next years a strategic role in services management for the aged population. The relevance of this article is linked to the phenomenon of the quick populational aging process and to the unavailability of adequate solutions for attending the demands and necessities of aged people – both at the State context and at the Civil Society – a situation that will permit to the third sector offer its portion of contribution and help to promote the social inclusion of the aged people.
