Validation of the Inkscape software as postural assessment instrument

Abstract

Introduction: The biophotometry is an important postural evaluation tool available to the physiotherapist. Objective: Check the reliability of using Inkscape software as postural assessment instrument. Methods: Participated 30 people in both gender, aged between 18 and 25 years. Specific anatomic points were demarcated and after photographic records at habitual skull posture, cervical flexion and extension, cervical slopes and rotations were made. Copies of photographic records were examined for tree examiners blinded. Results: The intra-observer (repeatability) and inter-observer (reproducibility) tests of cervical angles analyzed for tree examiners demonstrated high reliability for the software Inkscape with intraclass correlation coefficient (CCI), respectively between 90% and 99%; 95% and 99%. Analysis of variance revealed no statistically significant difference between the angles of the two software (p>0.05). Conclusions: The results show that the software Inkscape is a reliable tool for evaluating the angular measurements of the cervical spine.
