The article discusses the importance of the work of Clóvis Moura for Brazilian sociological thought, in general, and for the teaching of Sociology in Secondary School, in a specific way. The use of aspects of the author's theoretical production allows the emergence of counter-hegemonic narratives on fundamental themes of sociological discipline, as well as the legislation in force regarding Basic Education - article 26-A of the LDB - provides legal support for this debate to contribute with an antiracist education. In this respect, the article starts with conceptual notions of Moura – “complete enslavement”, “late slavery” and “quilombagem” - and proposes reflections on the protagonism of the black population and its unfolding in the history and formation of the Brazilian nation. These considera-tions are the based of the discourse analysis carried out with the PNLD - 2015 Sociology textbooks, tracing the limits and the absence of the racial question as an intellectual task of the first order.Downloads
