Abstract

This article, based on previous studies about teacher training programs for primary school, highlights some of the guiding principles and proposals which were articulated around the Undergraduate teacher training. The theme is developed considering three stages: the first movement deals with the settings of that time, its uncertain trajectory and the precariousness of the first school for training teachers in Brazil. The second movement lays emphasis on the discussions about the feminization of teaching and the third movement defines the integration and equivalence of the undergraduate teacher training to all secondary education courses, which allow access to higher education, distinguishing it from vocational courses for primary teaching.
