Abstract

The process of the formation of the Welfare State began at the end of the First World War and began to enter into crisis with the oil crisis. At this time, the global economy went from what was known as an era of expansion to a period of stagnation with high inflation. This led to the socialization of neoliberal ideas. Based on Wendy Brown's work on the neoliberal project, this paper aims to understand the main neoliberal ideas (formulated mainly by Milton Friedman and Friedrich A. Hayek) and some of the consequences of the process of (re)commodification of the various spheres of collective life consolidated in recent decades. These include the weakening of human rights and the culture of equality and a significant increase in populism and violence. The research method used was hypothetical-deductive and the research technique was bibliographical.
