Abstract

This work aims to present elements for a better understanding of human rights from the hermeneutics of the text of Paul Ricoeur. The main hypotheses of this article are that hermeneutics can contribute to understanding and explaining issues related to human rights and their interpretations and that the notion of text plays a fundamental role in this interpretative process. In the research was adopted the phenomenological-hermeneutic method elaborated by the author himself and some of his main works were read, in addition to the reading of commentators on Ricoeur's work. As a result, it can be said that the hermeneutics of the text of the French philosopher contributes to the theme of human rights since it can serve as a theoretical paradigm, clarifying the textual bases for an interpretation of human rights.
