Abstract

The aim in this study was to evaluate the effect of the Bad Ragaz Ring Method (BRRM) hydrotherapy in posture and quality of life of an 18 years-old voluntary with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). The subject was submitted to a physical therapy evaluation that included analysis of the joints range of movement (ROM), postural alterations, muscular chain flexibility, pain and matinal rigidity and quality of life. The treatment consisted of 45 minute hydrotherapy sessions (BRRM), twice a week, totalizing ten sessions. After treatment, an improvement in the ROM, posture, muscular flexibility and in the majority of Short Form 36 Questionnaire (SF-36) domains was observed. In conclusion, the hydrotherapy treatment, using BRRM induced an improvement in muscular flexibility, posture, pain, ROM and quality of life of a JRA subject.
