Abstract

The objective of this study was to verify the psychomotor profile of preschool children of public and private schools. Sixty healthful children participated in the study: 30 of public school and 30 of private school; children were distributed equally; they were between 3 to 5 years old. After the consent of the responsible, the children were evaluated an only time. The instrument used to evaluate the Global and Fine Praxis of the preschool was Pyschomotor Battery (PMB) (Fonseca, 1995) that classifies the pyschomotor profile in apraxic, dyspraxic, eupraxic and hyperpraxic. The 3, 4 and 5 years old preschool children of private and public schools, had evolved from dyspraxic profile to the eupraxic, and it was evidenced that the 5 years old children had initiated the acquisition of the hyperpraxic profile. This study can contribute in knowing the pyschomotor development of these children, as well as stimulating researchs in this area.
