Objectives: Pacients characterization after hospital admission due stroke in two hospitals from Passo Fundo (RS). Methods: We conducted a retrospective study with data collected from hospital records. We collected sex, race, age, city of origin, type of stroke and request for physical therapy of 775 patients admitted during the period March 2005 to March 2006. Descriptive analysis was made of the data. Results: Among the records evaluated, 53.68% were males, 30.74% of those aged between 70 and 79 years. The ischemic stroke, assailed 83.14% of the subjects, most of them were white. 62.84% had physical therapy, motor, respiratory or both. Conclusions: These results led to draw a profile of patients who suffer strokes in the city of Passo Fundo and region, highlighting its importance to the understanding of these patients, looking for possible measures of prevention and treatment.Downloads
