Effects of early mobilization on cardiovascular and autonomic behavior in postoperative myocardial revascularization

OBJECTIVES: To observe the cardiovascular responses in the face of early mobilization in the postoperative coronary artery bypass grafting. METHOD: Intervention with five patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery, aged between 45 and 65. Mobilization held on the second postoperative day, consisting of active or passive mobilization of the lower limbs for six minutes, one minute for each member, with 30 seconds to rest. Analyzed heart rate (bpm), respiratory rate (f, bpm), systolic blood pressure (SBP, mmHg) and diastolic (DBP, mmHg), double product (DP) and heart rate variability (HRV). RESULTS: Increased HR in early mobilization (p = 0.004) and active exercise (p <0.01) decreased after exercise (p <0.05), HR was higher in active mobilization for passive (p < 0.05). The DP increased with the active mobilization. No change in other variables. CONCLUSIONS: The cardiovascular responses occurred, as expected, an increase in HR and vagal withdrawal, without sympathetic activation and BP elevation in active exercise.Downloads
