The process of territorialization in São Pedro district in Teresina, Piauí: a vision of health in the population

Introduction: Territorialization is a useful tool in the service of basic health care, enabling development of a situational diagnosis, and creating opportunities for intervention strategies. Objectives: To present the territorialization process of the district of São Pedro, Teresina (PI), Brazil, build a diagnosis health and discussing the main demands. Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted through the analysis of data from the Information System of Primary Care (2009) and face with a visit to the area covered by the Family Health Strategy in São Pedro neighborhood. Results: We noticed a greater number of hypertensive patients in the area 141 (n=291), and diabetics in the area 142 (n=82). A total of 15 wheelchairs users and amputees and 19 bedridden were indentified in the area. Team 47's area stood out for its greater health and social demands and for low levels of education and accessibility, evidencing degraded urban conditions. Conclusion: We visualized the relevant needs of the territory, and suggest strategic actions that meet the main demands.Downloads
