Introduction: The aging process leads to a decline of functional capacity, compromising the health of the elderly. Physical activity helps maintain adequate balance, reducing the probability of falls. Objective: To verify the effects of a water aerobics program on balance in the elderly. Methods: Eight elderly individuals between 60 and 74 years old, all beginners in water aerobics, participated in this study. Balance was assessed using Berg’s balance scale. A descriptive analysis of the data was made, and a Student “t” test of paired samples was applied, with a significance level of 5%. Results: After the water aerobics program, a slight increase was detected in the balance motor performance of the participants. However, the difference between the pre- and post-test means was not statistically significant (p=0.231). Conclusion: It is necessary to prioritize physical exercises that improve balance in water aerobics programs.Downloads
